Work & Travel in New Zealand
Swiss glaciers, Scottish Highlands, Icelandic geysers, Mediterranean palm trees – you can find the most diverse of European landscapes in contrasting combinations in New Zealand. And that’s not all – you can ski at midday and sun yourself on the beach during the evenings!
Of course, New Zealand, the land of the Kiwis, is also renowned for its adventurous sporting possibilities such as rafting, parachuting or bungee jumping. Would you dare to take the leap to the other end of the world? You can finance your dream by doing odd jobs in New Zealand with the Working Holiday Visa.

We also help you to plan a travel route and to take out comprehensive travel insurance at a good price, which will also cover you while you are working.
Terms and Conditions for the Working Holiday Visa (WHV)
You are allowed to travel and work for up until 12 months in New Zealand with a Working Holiday Visa. You may take on any job you find. This means that you can finance most of your holiday in New Zealand all by yourself. The requirements shown below apply for UK citizens.
- 18-30 years old (at the time of application)
- Departure within 12 months after application (meaning you may have become 31 years of age)
- Maximum stay 12 months (you may leave and arrive in New Zealand again several times during this time period)
- Visa costs of approximately 50 £ (65€, or 100 US$), payable to the New Zealand embassy
- This Visa is issued only once to each person
- Proof of possession of 4200 NZ$ (approximately 1650 £, 2200 € or 3300 US$) on arrival
As for other nationalities, it is important that your home country has made an appropriate Visa agreement with New Zealand and for you to know what requirements you need to fulfil. Please check if you are eligible to apply for a Working Holiday Visa on http://www.immigration.govt.nz.

Kia Ora - User service in New Zealand
Once you have landed in Auckland, exhausted by the extremely long journey and time difference, your first point of call will be a downtown hostel where you can fall into a ready made bed! Our partner organisation will provide you with local service, informing and advising you on a wide range of topics during an information workshop - in particular, of course, your search for a job.
You will receive help with applying for the tax number and a bank account, both necessary for working in New Zealand.
- Where, when and how can you find jobs?
- What should I look out for when buying a car?
- Where can I find cheap means of travel and accommodation in New Zealand?
These and many more questions will be answered. Use the internet access and the pin board with job offers, both in the Auckland office! You can also print out your C.V. and meet other backpackers in the comfortable lounge.
The office, which also includes a travel agency, will serve you as a contact point during your entire stay in New Zealand, not only while you are staying in Auckland. A regular e-mail newsletter will inform you of social events and job offers.
For example, come to the pub gathering, or go to a rugby or cricket match with other Working Holiday participants in New Zealand. If you need help quickly, just tell us - we'll be there for you, together with our New Zealand partners!
