You are allowed to travel and work for up to 12 months in Canada with a Working Holiday Visa. You may take on any job you find. This means that you can finance most of your holiday in Canada yourself. The requirements shown below apply for UK citizens.
- 18-30 years old
- A clean police clearance certificate
- Proof of being a registered student
- Proof of possession of sufficient financial means for your stay (we recommend around 2100 £, 2500 € or 4125 US$)
- The number of Working Holiday Visas for Canada is strictly limited for almost every nationality.
As for other nationalities, it is important that your home country has made an appropriate Visa agreement with Canada and for you to know what requirements you need to fulfil. Please check if you are eligible to apply for a Working Holiday Visa on http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/

Welcome to Canada – our local service
You will begin your stay in Canada with either two or seven night’s accommodation and a job workshop in Vancouver. Whatever the case, we will have already reserved a hostel bed with breakfast for you. This means that, exhausted by a flight half-way around the world and the subsequent bus journey to downtown Vancouver, you can simply fall into bed once you arrive.
The next day you can participate in our job workshop. Our Canadian partners will:
- Tell you how to search for jobs
- Prepare you for a typical job interview in Canada
- Help you to apply for a Canadian social insurance number
- Help you to open a local bank account
In addition, our partner organisation will have prepared your English C.V. in accordance with your information after booking the trip. If you are interested in further information relating to jobs, you are very welcome to visit the weekly job workshops at the office in Vancouver or in Victoria on Vancouver Island.
Please use the internet and pin boards displaying job offers at our partner organisation in Victoria! This will ensure that you are well prepared and informed. And then off you go with Work&Travel! If you require help, advice or support during your stay in Canada – no problem! We’re always there for you, together with our Canadian partners!
