Volunteer work in Vietnam

Vietnam has long been one of Asia’s best-kept travel secrets, but especially in recent years the country has developed out of its turbulent history into an intriguing and multifaceted travel destination. A land of great natural beauty, Vietnam is also a place where tradition and modern life intermingle. The opulent palaces and temples of Vietnam’s ancient cities are as much a part of the cityscape as the bright and chaotic street markets, where mopeds zip and rickshaws hurry by.

Volunteer work in Vietnam

After your 3-week tour, you will start your volunteer work in Vietnam, working on a project in the area surrounding Hanoi. Your exact placement will depend on your individual capabilities and knowledge and on what sort of help the various projects need at the time. Possible placements are in orphanages and in care centres for disabled children.

Your volunteer work in Vietnam may include:

  • Caring for and supervising children; playing with them and preparing meals for them.
  • Possibly teaching some English.
  • Assisting with dietary advice.
  • Helping with renovation work.

In the care centre, volunteers assist doctors and other employees as they help children with disabilities develop their capabilities through play. You will have to show a lot of commitment, but in return you will learn a lot about both your host country and yourself through your volunteer work in Vietnam.
