Volunteer in Venezuela
At a glance
- Age: 18 years and above
- Duration: 5 or 8 weeks
- Language: Spanish language skills help, but are not absolutely necessary. Good basic knowledge of Spanish required for 5-week programme.
- Starting dates: Every first and third Monday of the month
When you set out to volunteer in Venezuela with TravelWorks, you'll gain a deep understanding of Venezuelan culture through volunteer work, Spanish lessons, and excursions, as part of a 5 or 8-week programme.
Spanish language course
You will be based either in the lively student town of Mérida, located over 1600 m above sea level in the Andes Mountains, or in Playa Colorada, situated in Mochima National Park. Here, you will take a 1 or 4-week Spanish course of 20 lessons per week. If you have no previous knowledge of Spanish or only very basic knowledge of the language, we strongly recommend that you take the 4-week Spanish course before you volunteer in Venezuela. You may also want to extend the course beyond 4 weeks, for an additional price of Ł 205 (US$ 345 or 230 €) per week.
You will begin your volunteer work directly after the language course. During your volunteer work you will continue to improve your Spanish skills, receiving 10 Spanish lessons per week during this time.
During the language course and the volunteer work, you will stay with other volunteers in a hostel in central Mérida or in a lodge on the beach in Playa Colorada, including half board (breakfast and supper).
