If it's a tropical paradise you seek, look no further than Venezuela! With its steamy rainforests, teeming with ocelots, armadillos, and anacondas and its friendly local people with their thriving indigenous culture, Venezuela has all the makings of a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
2 months in a Travelling Classroom – Typical itinerary
Weeks 1 and 2: Playa Colorada, Beach Lodge
Intensive Spanish lessons; cooking, salsa, and merengue lessons; tours to the islands, waterfalls, and villages within a close proximity; a 3-day kayak tour with dolphin-watching; introduction to climbing and abseiling.
Week 3: Caripe National Park, camping in tents
More Spanish lessons, exploration of the Guachero Cave, visits to coffee and fruit plantations as well as to local markets, hikes through the mountains, sleeping in tents.
Weeks 4 and 5: Orinoco Delta, sleeping in hammocks
A kayak excursion of 10-12 days through the Orinoco River Delta, visits to isolated villages, discovering the traditional life of the Warao Indigenas (including fishing and survival-training).
Week 6: Playa Colorada, Beach Lodge
Further intensive Spanish lessons, history and culture lessons, cooking lessons, sports activities (beach volleyball, snorkelling), excursion to Cumana.
Weeks 7 and 8: Gran Sabana and Roraima, camping in tents
Jeep safari into the mystical highlands of Venezuela, visits to Indigena locations, Spanish lessons (only during Week 7), climbing the peak of Roraima (one-week trekking tour).
Weeks 9 - 12: Playa Colorada Beach Lodge
After morning Spanish lessons, you will help out in the afternoons at a local volunteer project.
