Volunteer work in Thailand
Travelling in Thailand is like flipping through a picture book – turn a page and you’re on a palm-fringed beach, another, and you’ll find yourself in a colourful temple, near a rice paddy or pineapple field, or within whispering-distance of a wild parrot or gibbon. Whether you’re relaxing in the sun, enjoying the delicious local food, or venturing into the jungle for a nature tour, you’re sure to soak up plenty of sun and culture as you experience your own Thai adventure tale.
Volunteer work in Thailand: Teach English
The volunteer work projects in northeastern Thailand are in and around Nongkhai. Aside from teaching English, you could teach computer lessons as part of your volunteer work in Thailand. Any help you can provide in the organisation of extracurricular activities is also highly appreciated and welcomed.
To ensure that you feel at home and make friends quickly during your volunteer work in Thailand, you will most likely be placed in a project together with other volunteers. The teachers and other volunteers will help you to get acclimatised and to find your way around.
Volunteer work in Thailand during the holidays
If you are placed in a school and are doing volunteer work in Thailand during the school holidays – generally from mid-February to mid-May, and during the month of October – you can help with alternative projects during this holiday time.
Our partners organise summer camps, where children and teenagers learn English in a fun and playful atmosphere. If you are interested, you can also participate in renovation work at different schools - helping hands are very welcome here!
Project examples for volunteer work in Thailand
- Nongkhai – Tourism College
The college is located approximately 30 km away from Nongkhai. Volunteers are picked up at their accommodation and brought to the project, where they teach the students English during their volunteer work in Thailand.
- Nongkhai – Michai School
In this small, poor school in a suburb of the town, you will be teaching classes of approximately 15 children between 6 and 12 years of age during your volunteer work in Thailand.
