Travel stories from Thailand
Travelling in Thailand is like flipping through a picture book – turn a page and you’re on a palm-fringed beach, another, and you’ll find yourself in a colourful temple, near a rice paddy or pineapple field, or within whispering-distance of a wild parrot or gibbon. Whether you’re relaxing in the sun, enjoying the delicious local food, or venturing into the jungle for a nature tour, you’re sure to soak up plenty of sun and culture as you experience your own Thai adventure tale.
I am absolutely hooked!
My stay in Thailand was absolutely wonderful. The children were incredible – singing, playing, dancing and laughing all the way – with me joining them! I just really enjoyed it all.
I started work as a volunteer in Nona Khaki and went on from there to Nongbualamphu, where I taught in a total of three summer camps. During the first camp, we lived with a host family for a week, which was a unique experience. For one week I worked in a school for the disabled and played with the children. For another two weeks I was in Pai, where we only taught one hour a day, due to the blazing heat: it was 40°C inside. However, I really had a ball!
Thailand is such a unique country. The people there are so friendly and sincere. They have next to nothing, but you learn so much from them in their open ways! It was really so fascinating and just blew me away!"

It was just wonderful
„I spent most of my time in Thailand in the town of Nongkhai, where I worked as an English teacher. For four weeks, I taught school children aged between 8 and 12 years old. Their knowledge of the language was generally rather poor, so you had to communicate in the simplest manner. Motivating the children with competitions and rewards proved the best way of overcoming their shyness. I taught daily for three hours. I also cared for orphans and once a month, I taught English to Buddhist monks.
My entire time in Thailand was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend it – I’d do it all over again any time. On the one hand, this positive impression is based on the unique chance to teach in a fascinating country, becoming part of the people and sharing their attitude towards life. On the other hand, our colourfully mixed group of travellers were united by our common aim to have as much fun as possible – and we really managed that well!“
