Let’s face it: Thailand is a picture-book travel destination. Colourful temples, palm-fringed beaches, exotic animals, vast rice and pineapple fields - it’s the place to be! It's also the place where you also can get picture-book travel experiences – laying back, soaking up the sun, eating delicious food and hitting the jungle roads leading to adventure – nearly everything is possible here!

Volunteer work in Thailand: your travel destination

No wonder Thailand is one of the top travel destinations in Asia – foreigners arriving in the “country of smiles” receive a warm and friendly welcome.

As a volunteer, you can teach English and live amongst the friendly people of Thailand – either in the north-east, on the Mekong River, or in the north-west in or near Chiang Mai, a cultural stronghold in Thailand.

Arrival and orientation days in Thailand

After arriving in Thailand, you will first spend an orientation weekend in Nongkhai on the border to Laos, in Chiang Mai or in Pai on the border to Myanmar – depending on your project placement. Our partner organisation will give you a helping hand and introduce you to the culture of Thailand and to the different regions on excursions.

This will prepare the ground for your teaching activities. Your will be accommodated in a shared room with other volunteers from all corners of the globe, during the orientation days as well as during your volunteer work.

Teach English in Thailand

English is an important language in Thailand. Fluent English means good chances of making a swift career. Whereas it is relatively easy to get hold of English in Bangkok, the rural areas and villages do not have so many possibilities.
You can be placed in

  • Schools,
  • Orphanages,
  • Village educational establishments
  • But also in Buddhist monasteries, called wats.

Your work as a volunteer and English Teaching Assistant is highly valued and appreciated.
