Volunteering in Kenya

The following services are included in our volunteering in Kenya programme: 

• Transfer from and to the Nairobi airport
• Orientation and introduction
• Placement in various volunteer projects
• Project donation
• Accommodation and meals (shared room with full board)
• Daily transportation between accommodation and projects
• Weekly laundry service
• Opportunity to participate in organised excursions (may be subject to an additional fee)
• Assistance when taking out travel insurance
• Support, help, and advice from an appointed programme coordinator before departure
• Local English-speaking contact person
• Local 24-hour emergency number
• Certificate upon return

Prices

• Age: 18 and above
• Language: Good knowledge of English
• Practical experience: Not mandatory, but it would certainly make your stay easier.
• Other: Kenya has very strong Muslim influences, so you should wear appropriate clothing. This means: Women volunteer in Kenya should wear long skirts or pants, shirts which cover the shoulders, and head-coverings. Out of respect for the religious background of the international Baptist centre where you will be staying, no alcohol may be consumed on the property of your accommodation. The work can be physically demanding. Since you will be entering a completely new cultural region, patience, adaptability, independence, and travel experience are essential. If you will be working in the health sector you will need appropriate clothing and previous medical knowlege.
