Volunteering in Kenya

The following services are included in our volunteering in Kenya programme: 

• Transfer from and to the Nairobi airport (at set times)
• Orientation and introduction to projects
• Placement in various volunteer projects
• Project donation
• Accommodation and meals (shared room in volunteer house with full board) with weekly laundry service
• Daily transportation between accommodation and projects
• Opportunity to participate in organised excursions (may be subject to an additional fee)
• Informational material and welcome package
• Assistance when taking out travel insurance
• Support, help, and advice from an appointed programme coordinator before departure
• Local English-speaking contact person
• Local 24-hour emergency number
• Certificate upon return

Prices

• Age: 18 and above
• Language: Good knowledge of English
• Practical experience: Not mandatory, but it would certainly make your stay easier. For active work in the healthcare projects, you must have prior medical experience.
• Other: You should wear appropriate clothing. This means: Women volunteer in Kenya should wear long skirts or pants and shirts which cover the shoulders. Out of respect for the religious background of the accommodation, no alcohol may be consumed on the premesis. The work can be physically demanding. Since you will be entering a completely new cultural region, patience, adaptability, independence, and travel experience are essential. If you will be working in the health sector you will need appropriate clothing and previous medical knowlege.
