Volunteering in China

The following services are included in our volunteering in China programme:

• Transportation from Shanghai airport
• 5-day orientation in Shanghai
• Accommodation during the orientation (shared room in a hostel or in a shared flat)
• Placement in a volunteer project
• Donation to schools in Si Chuan
• Transfer to the project (only for project placements in and around Shanghai)
• Accommodation during the volunteer work (shared room on school grounds or in a shared flat)
• Meals during the volunteer work (full board from Monday to Friday)
• Workshop in Chinese art, culture, and cooking and 6 Mandarin lessons
• Support, help, and advice from an appointed programme coordinator before departure
• Assistance when taking out travel insurance
• Assistance when applying for and (if necessary) extending the visa
• Welcome packet and telephone card
• English-speaking contact partner in China
• Local 24-hour emergency number
• Certificate upon return

Prices

• Age: 18 years and above
• Language: Good knowledge of English
• Practical experience: Not mandatory, but teaching experience is advantageous and would certainly make your stay easier.
• Other: Since you are going to enter a completely new cultural region, you must have a lot of patience, adaptability, independence, and travel experience. You will also need a great deal of personal initiative.

• If required, onward travel to Chengdu (about £ 170,  US$ 285, or 190 €), Su Zhou (about £ 2.70, US$ 4.50, or 3 €), or Zhengzhou (about £ 23, US$ 38, or 25 €).
