Volunteering in Tanzania - Zanzibar

The following services are included in our volunteering in Tanzania-Zanzibar programme:

• Transfer from and to the airport in Zanzibar (at predetermined times)
• 1-day orientation
• Placement in various volunteer projects
• Project donation
• Accommodation in a shared room in a volunteer house with full board
• Weekly laundry service
• Bicycle for daily transport to the projects
• Daily transportation between the accommodation and projects
• Opportunity to take part in organised excursions (possibly for an additional fee)

Prices

• Age: 18 and above
• Language: Good to very good knowledge of English
• Practical experience: Not necessary, but it would certainly make your stay easier. TEFL qualification (= Teaching English as a Foreign Language) is an advantage, but not required.
• Other: Since Zanzibar has strong Muslim influences, you should always wear appropriate clothing. This means: long skirts or pants and shoulder-covering shirts. Alcohol is taboo here. During Ramadan, you will also need to respect religious conventions. Patience, independence, flexibility, adaptability, and personal initiative are essential, as is the ability to handle very simple living and work conditions. Travel experience is an advantage. March - May and November - December are the rainy seasons.
