Travel Stories from Tanzania

Zanzibar, an archipelago off the coast of Tanzania, is one of Africa’s best-kept secrets. The main island, Unguja, is about 100 kilometres long and 30 kilometres wide, and has so much to offer. White-sand beaches line the turquoise-blue water for kilometres, and a bright mix of cultures, with Indian, Arabian, and African influences, is evident everywhere you go on the group of islands.

I returned home with many new impressions

"I lived and worked in Jambiani. At the weekend, we went to Kendwa, Stone Town, and to the southern part of the island. In the mornings, I taught from 10 a.m. to noon in a pre-school. In the afternoons, the type of work varied. For example, we painted a high school, planted plants on the beach, made posters for the town… I really enjoyed my stay. I met lots of nice people, the work was varied, and I returned home with many new impressions." Stephanie Goy
