Working with Cheetahs in South Africa

The cheetah conservation project in South Africa is an extremely hands-on project, dedicated to the protection of cheetahs, as well as lions and leopards. Located on 8,300 ha of land, the cheetah project is home to free-roaming wildlife. Working with cheetahs in South Africa, you will research and monitor the cheetahs, as you also will be involved with all aspects of the project. Some of your possible volunteering tasks include:

  • Working in a leopard research project
  • Checking fences
  • Helping with the development of a rehabilitation centre for local animals
  • Tracking and monitoring cheetahs, bison, and other animals
  • Game management and relocation
  • Preventing poaching
  • Working in community education and awareness projects

The project is quite physical, so be ready to roll up your sleeves! Since you will spend plenty of time outdoors in the wild, this project is perfect for nature-lovers. With so much variety, working with cheetahs in South Africa will only be part of your wild experience!
