Work experience in Portugal

Portugal is a sun-worshipper’s dream, with its above-average number of sunny hours per year, and the country is also on top of its game in football. Aside from its climatic advantages and sporting triumphs, this western European land has much to offer foodies, night owls, and water sports-enthusiasts alike!

Work experience in Portugal

In my free time, I went to the beach...

I took my language course in Lisbon, where I studied Portuguese five days a week, four hours a day. After that, I worked in a hotel for the next two months in the Algarve in Albufeira. I mainly did restaurant work each day, clearing away dishes, wiping tables, moving chairs, filling cruet stands and buffets, etc. It was never boring, because there were always interesting events, like weddings, conferences, or carnivals. Plus, popular guests were always showing up, such as the national women’s football teams from Norway, the U.S., Sweden, and Portugal, as well as professional tennis players. I worked 5 days a week from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. In my free time, I usually used my chance to go to the beach, or to watch football in one of the many pubs.
