Hotel Jobs Portugal: Language Course

The capital of Portugal has rapidly developed into a fashion capital of the Iberian Peninsula. With flashy fashion labels, an artistic culture, and a bright music scene in its many bars and clubs, Lisbon is extremely popular. Portugal has a long tradition of being open to the world and multicultural influences – famous explorers such as Vasco da Gama were the first Europeans to reach the Americas and bring influences of this “New World” back to their homeland. Set off on your own adventure trip like those early explorers and apply for hotel jobs in Portugal!

Portuguese Language Course

Did you know that Portuguese is the sixth most commonly-spoken language in the world? Portuguese is more widely spoken than Russian, French, and German. Over 200 million people in countries around the world speak Portuguese, and you may be one of them!

During the 2 to 4-week language course in Lisbon (20 classes a week, each class lasting 45 minutes), which you will take at the beginning of your stay in Portugal, you will have the opportunity to refresh and/or improve your Portuguese in a class of no more than 10 students. You will also meet participants from all over the world at the language school.

Use your free time to acquaint yourself with lively Lisbon! During the course, you will be staying in a room with several other people in a shared flat. You will be paying for your own meals. On the Sunday after the end of the language course, you will travel onward to the hotel where you will be working.

Hotel Jobs in Portugal

Hotel jobs in Portugal: Regions

You will be doing hotel jobs in Portugal where people go on holiday, around Lisbon, in the south of the country on the Algarve, or on Madeira Island. Although you won’t be able to pick the region where you are placed, every region in Portugal has its own charm!

Lisbon and surroundings

Aside from the allure of the capital city itself, lying on the banks of the Tejo River, the region around Lisbon awaits you with fascinating sights and landscapes, including the Castle of the Moors in Sintra, wide beaches, idyllic coastal resorts and mountain villages, Cabo da Roca – the westernmost point on the European continent, and impressive monasteries. Clearly this region, extending from the Atlantic to green expanses of land farther inland, has much to offer visitors and people in search of hotel jobs in Portugal.

Algarve

Forming the southernmost coast of Portugal, Algarve attracts tons of visitors each year with its mild climate (with an average summer temperature of 24°C and a winter average of 15°C), an over 150-kilometre coast, and all sorts of water sport opportunities. As a result, today in Algarve there is a plethora of hotels, resorts, suites, and guest houses – a perfect spot to find hotel jobs in Portugal.

Madeira

With its 1,800-metre-high mountain of Pico Ruivo and its steep volcanic coasts, the island of Madeira juts out of the Atlantic about 1,000 km southwest of Lisbon and 600 km west of Morocco. Although the name “Madeira” translates simply as “wood”, the volcanic island is known for its various species of flowers. Madeira’s climate benefits from the warm Gulf Stream. With its constant pleasant weather, Madeira Island is an attractive holiday destination year-round and a great place to work in hotel jobs in Portugal.
