A great experience

Guatemala was an amazing experience, which I would do again anytime – I would recommend it to anybody. It is just a beautiful land with the friendliest people. I lived in Antigua the entire time I was there, and I spent the weekends travelling. Antigua is absolutely gorgeous – so bright and well-preserved, you feel like you’ve been transported a few centuries back in time.

I worked in a guarderia (a children’s day-care). My experiences there were truly unique. The children are so adorable, and the women I worked with were also very nice. My working hours were from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the following schedule: Early, after all the children had arrived, we played with the kids. Around 8 a.m. we all ate breakfast (after washing our hands, of course), and then came teeth-brushing, before the students went to their classes. In class, the children made crafts and learned a bit. From 10 to 11 a.m., the children were allowed to play in the yard. Finally, students went back to their classes and to lunch. The children were so sweet, you didn’t want to leave them behind. Overall, I learned a lot about life in Guatemala.
