The TravelWorks team

TravelWorks, as a brand of the Travelplus Group GmbH, is a member of the worldwide WYSET (World Youth Student & Educational Travel) Associations and GWEA (Global Work Experience Association). Together with carpe diem Language Holidays, another brand of the Travelplus Group GmbH, we have sent more than 70,000 participants on holiday over the last 15 years.

For TravelWorks, travel means more than just being a tourist in another country; instead of just brushing the surface, submerge yourself in the culture of a foreign land - that’s what adventure is all about! We aim to bring as many people as possible into contact with foreign cultures, with the help of our employees, who have travelled and worked abroad for several years themselves. TravelWorks not only wants to provide you with an unforgettable adventure, but would also like to play a role in intercultural understanding all over the world.

Everyone on the TravelWorks team has gained in-depth experience of other countries via travel and working stays – there isn’t a better guarantee for competent advice! Our enthusiastic colleagues are looking forward to accompanying you from your first travel ideas right down to sticking your photos into your photo album!

And just so you know who you are dealing with, if you ring us or meet us at info days or trade fairs, we would like to introduce ourselves:

Tanja Kuntz

Tanja Kuntz

Director of PR/Marketing and Human Resources

Tanja Kuntz has been a part of TravelWorks since the very beginning. Her areas of work include PR and Marketing. After her A-Levels, Tanja left Germany to spend a year in Australia, where she lived, worked, and travelled before heading to Trier, Germany to study Applied Geography and Economics. During her studies, Kuntz went on a two-month camping tour through 18 European countries, spent several months doing tourism research in Great Britain, and taught German in Russia for two months. Between her studies and the beginning of TravelWorks in 2001, Tanja jetted across the world again, for a language course in Costa Rica, and jobs in Luxembourg and Ireland. In the framework of educational travel and personal trips, Tanja has visited our partners in projects and language schools in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Spain, Great Britain, Canada, Thailand, Ghana, and India.

Tanja's next dream trip: Tours through Scotland and Morocco.

E-Commerce

Sonja Ranft

Sonja Ranft

E-Commerce Manager

Out of the Ruhr region and over the pond: after completing secondary school in Marl, Germany, Sonja disappeared, spending 12 months as an au pair in New York. After living and working in the Big Apple, she returned to Germany for a business studies course, completing her business certification with a focus on tourism management and international business management in the lovely city of Trier. She maintained her links to tourism through her work experiences with tour organisers and travel agencies, as well as through her various travels. In 2005, we managed to tempt our Ms. Ranft to Münster, where she has since played a major role in setting up and expanding our web presence. In particular, she has been an integral part of the web marketing of our partner programmes and in our latest web relaunch. But Sonja is just as fascinated by the world wide web as she is by world wide travel. Her latest trips have taken her to Vietnam, China, and the sunny beaches of Thailand.

Sonja’s next dream trip: Having seen so much of Asia, Sonja’s ready for something a bit different – Latin America is calling!

Management

Thomas Meier

Thomas Meier

CEO

Our Dortmund-born CEO, Thomas Meier, wound up in Münster after he finished his business studies. He has stayed here ever since, though he’s moved out of his old downtown student digs where he laid the foundation of Travelplus Group in 1991, to the city’s green surroundings, where he now lives with his family. Thomas never would have started a travel business if it hadn’t been for his passion for our products. The globetrotter’s travels include backpacking in Australia, language courses in Spain and Honduras, countless visits to schools and projects on every continent, and casual strolls with lions in South Africa. Thomas’ story is that of the Travelplus Group. He has led the company from a one-man show to a team of over 50 workers, has opened a branch office in Vienna, and continues to keep the company on course for further growth and success. Aside from keeping track of data (Thomas is our uncrowned Mr. Excel) he also enjoys athletics, cinema, and Bavaria-Munich football – and when he ties on a pair of running shoes, there’s not much that can stop him.

Thomas’ next dream trip: Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and/or a sailing trip in the South Seas.
