History
2008 | Introducing TravelWorks into the English speaking market with www.travelworks.co.uk. Substantial expansion of range of volunteer projects on offer in Africa and Asia. Renting extra office space and doubling the number of staff working with our e-commerce department. We now present our programmes on more than 150 events throughout Germany and Austria. Some TravelWorks infodays attract up to 450 visitors. A new apprentice travel agent joins the team. |
2007 | Introducing TravelWorks in Austria with one full time staff in Vienna. Two apprentices start with TravelWorks in Münster to train to be a travel agent. |
2006 | TravelWorks and carpe diem Language Holidays merge to become Travelplus Group GmbH. TravelWorks and carpe diem Language Holidays are continued with the appropriate product lines and expanded. The Travelplus Group GmbH has 42 people in their employment. On 01.10.2006, the Travelplus Group GmbH becomes a 100% subsidiary of the British Holidaybreak plc. Two apprentices – as travel agency clerk or office clerk - join the team. |
2005 | The number of employees rises to 20 people. TravelWorks has three catalogues on the market: Travel&Work/Volunteer work, High School and professional work experience placements for the USA. The product line Travel&Work/Volunteer work is expanded with volunteer work in Argentina, Chile and Venezuela. The High School programme is expanded to the countries of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, England and Ireland. The online sales are strengthened by the foundation of the e-traffiX agency. e-traffiX employs three people and also takes on external orders in the field of online marketing. TravelWorks becomes a partner of the Bundesforum Kinder- and Jugendreisen e.V. |
2004 | In mid-October, TravelWorks takes over business for CIEE Deutschland GmbH, whose US-American central office works with TravelWorks as their German co-operation partner. Two new product lines: High School and professional internships for the USA are added to the programmes, each with separate catalogues in the programmes. |
2003 | TravelWorks employs six full time employees; in addition, students and apprentices work in the team as learning and helping hands. The programme palette undergoes a major expansion: Work&Travel New Zealand, volunteer work in Mexico, South Africa, India and Thailand, Summer Camp in the USA and Au Pair in the Netherlands are also on offer. Start of the TravelWorks online partner programmes. The company becomes a member of the quality association GWEA |
2002 | The number of company employees rises to four full-time workers and several student helpers. TravelWorks doubles the size of its office. The company presents itself at the first large school leaver’s trade fairs and holds its first own information events with up to 150 visitors per day. In addition, TravelWorks becomes a member of the quality association FIYTO (Federation of International Youth Travel Organisations). |
2001 | In June, carpe diem Language Holidays GmbH founds the Travel Works GmbH with its Manager, Mr. Thomas Meier and Ms. Janine Wegman, Manageress of Activity International in the Netherlands. Two employees set up the young company in Münster-Wolbeck. The main product is Work&Travel Australia; in addition, Work&Travel programmes in Great Britain, France and Norway are offered as well as volunteer programmes in Latin America and Africa. |
